The School Psychology Curriculum
The Phase I curriculum was developed for students who will be entering the Program with a bachelor's degree in psychology or master's degree in psychology or in an allied field. If you do not possess a degree in psychology, we assume that you have completed courses in these six areas: Abnormal, Developmental, and Educational Psychology; Learning, Personality, and Statistics. We occasionally admit students who do not have all prerequisites, but they must complete the requisites before their third semester in the program. All Phase I courses (or equivalent, if taken at another university) are required of all students. Students are expected to complete Phase I requirements through full-time enrollment.
Phase II completes the Program and culminates in the PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in School Psychology. Students with prior graduate coursework or degrees in relevant areas may waive some requirements, but all decisions are made after admission on a course-by-course basis. Students may complete Phase II on a part-time basis provided the residency requirement (full-time enrollment for one year) is fulfilled.
